White Horse Laboratories first US-based testing facility in Cleveland is now open

Cleveland, USA. White Horse Laboratories, the electronics testing and quality control specialist, today marked its homecoming by announcing the official opening of its new Jack Kilby Testing Center in Cleveland, Ohio. The company’s first U.S.-based test lab features comprehensive testing capabilities and complementary services to provide its North American customers with high-quality, flexible supply chain validation and fast turnaround times and customer-centric service.

Over the past two years, the electronics industry’s efficiency-driven procurement process has increasingly broken down, and the disadvantages of relying on a few sources for semiconductors and other electronic components have become apparent. If demand exceeds supply, supply bottlenecks, price jumps and delays in the entire manufacturing process are inevitable.

It is shortage conditions such as this that has counterfeit electronic components sprouting up everywhere. Not least, the prevalence of offshore manufacturing makes it difficult to ensure the required integrity and quality of components produced for commercial and high-reliability electronics such as automotive, medical, military and aerospace. “It is critical to know that all components are genuine and manufactured to specifications and have not been recycled or counterfeited,” emphasizes Rebecca Welte, Account Manager for White Horse Laboratories USA. “By working with an independent testing lab like White Horse Laboratories that operates to international standards, companies can more effectively source authentic, high-quality products, and make their supply chain more resilient.”

At Cleveland’s Jack Kilby Testing Center, a well-trained engineering team offers the full range of AS6081 required test methods (levels A1-A6 and C), starting its first phase with documentation and packaging inspection, detailed visual inspection, X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and X-ray analysis, heated solvent testing, decapsulation and die analysis, solderability testing, cross-section, and electrical testing including temperature range.
